What I need to be a teacher

1. Educational requirements
The typical duties of a teacher are helping students understand subjects, planning lessons, grading assignments and papers, etc.; therefore, a teacher must have an amount of knowledge of the field he is planning to teach. The knowledge requirement depends on specialty (vocational, preschool, high school education, etc.) and the laws of each country.
However, owning a degree of bachelor in the subject area is not enough to become a teacher; some schools require teachers to earn credits in teaching disable students, using technology in class, etc. Furthermore, teachers usually update their knowledge, their skills, and their teaching methods by advancing their education to educate students better.

2. Passion
It is an important factor that a teacher should gain. Teaching is not always an interesting job; when being a teacher, you may be bored with the lessons you have taught year after year, or with the faces you meet everyday in class or with the not-well-paid salary you receive monthly. Half of new U.S. teachers are likely to quit their teaching career within the first five years due to poor working conditions and low salaries - according to a study from the National Education Association. Therefore, this job requires much more passion than any other jobs.

3. Patience
To deal with many kinds of students, teachers must be patient at all times. Being a teacher, you must face some situations in which students misbehave or cause serious problems, especially elementary kids. Your professional ethics do not allow you to get angry and yell at them. Any actions of a teacher have strongly psychological influence on students. Therefore, to be a teacher, you should be patient by listening, caring and understanding your students. Moreover, teachers must be patient to satisfy students’ parents who are always worried about their children and sometimes overact like calling you - their children’s teachers day and night.

4. Flexibility
Teachers’ flexibility helps them to deal with students in different levels and in different ages. Not all students are good, so teachers must be flexible to realize students’ weakness and strength in order to find appropriate teaching styles or design teaching plans to help them understand the subject.

5. Responsibility and professional ethics:
Teaching profession is noble because it plays a leading role in educating the next generations. Therefore, teachers must be responsible for everything they teach and for their behaviors which influence students a lot. In order to be a teacher, you must be confident in your knowledge to make sure that what you transmit to students is right. You must behave in a good way as well. Some teachers violate the professional ethics by taking advantage of their students financially or sexually. Of course such actions are not accepted by the whole society; to be a teacher, you also have morality to accompany your noble career.
